The Cast and Crew...

Cast

Luke Hawker
Luke has always enjoyed performing, from dancing to theatre and film. Most recently he played  “Gonzales” in Doctor Dapertutto’s “The Auditor” (2004) and the leading role in “I think I’m going”, a local independent feature film screened at the Wellington Film Festival (2003). His voice can be heard in numerous commercials  for TV and radio. He attended the NIDA (National Institute of Dramatic Art) one year Young Actor’s Course in 1997 and was a member of the professional dance company “Bricolage” in Sydney for 2 years.

Luke has been working at WETA workshop since 1999 as a Prosthetic effects technician, and is currently the Senior Mold maker.


Simon Smith
Simon has been acting for eleven years now. In this time he has been involved in all sorts of productions ranging from Shakespeare to Improvised Comedy, from Expressive dance to Corporate Entertainment. Most recently Simon performed in "Albert Speer" at Bats and short films "Quench" and "Straight to Video".

Simon can make 2 minute noodles in 90 seconds and his mum thinks he's handsome.

Crew

Ben Hawker, horker- Director and Writer
Ben has had over ten years experience in the film industry as a creature and make-up effects artist. Ben's credits include "Holy Smoke", "Babe - Pig in the City", "The Matrix", "The Lord of the Rings Trilogy", "Peter Pan" and "Perfect Stranger". Having made several short films, Ben has teamed up with Luke to create his first feature "Black Spot". Ben intends to continue writing and directing for the screen.

Freya Blackwood, freyasbackward- Producer
Freya is a children's book illustrator now, but before this she worked at Weta Workshop as a prosthetic painter and production assistant. She grew up in Australia, studied Visual Communications at UTS and discovered she was never meant to be a graphic designer. Although illustration won out in the end she still loves the process of making films.

Chris Mills, meesto-Associate Producer/Technical Director
Co-owner of LLG, 3D visual effects, programmer, problem-solver, musician and chef.

Byron Darling- 1st Assistant Director


Frances Richardson- Makeup Superviser
Frances worked as a foam latex technician in London for Soft options, a medical and make up prosthetics shop. On her return to Wellington she began working at Weta Workshop, as a mold maker and foam latex technician and now heads the foam latex department. She ran foam for prosthetics, applied hero prosthetics and oversaw the on-set background orc makeups for "The Return of the King" pickups in 2003.


Ryk Fortuna- Sound Recordist
I'm a self taught artisan who mostly enjoys sculpting and a dash of life drawing on the side. A social misfit and music lover who's into zombies.


Jeremy Cullen- Composer/Sound Designer
Jeremy is currently senior sound engineer at Marmalade Audio, where he has worked since 1999. His work there has included everything from recording the NZSO, to writing music for commercials, 5.1 surround sound mixing and sound design for museum installations and cinema. Recent short film sound credits include Peter Burger's "Turangawaewae" and Chris Graham's "Bus Stop".

He is also involved in writing and performing in several rock bands, and has composed for many film, theatre and audiovisual projects.

Co-owner of LLG, graphic designer, illustrator and writer.

Cathy Harris- Wardrobe


Serene Fortuna, idontbelievein- Titles Designer
Born and educated in England, with an honours degree in graphic arts and design. Exhibited artist and finalist in short film competition in the UK. I moved to New Zealand in 2003. I am never limited by categorising myself, I do anything which is creative. From interior design to moving graphics, I love it all.

Hey is Simon the Simon who came to L.A. for the Theatresports World Cup Tournament like 10 years ago? If so... hello! (Richard from LATS. And Dan O'Connor would say hello too.)
I asked Simon if he was the the Simon who went to LA for the Thestresports World Cup and he says that he doesn't think it was him. What a pity - those coincidences are nice once in a while.
